Ruling 1737

Whenever a muʿtakif is compelled to conduct a transaction in order to procure food and drink or other necessary items, and he cannot find someone else who is not a muʿtakif to do this on his behalf by way of agency (wikālah), and it is not possible for him to procure the aforementioned items without conducting a transaction – for example, by way of receiving them as a gift or borrowing them – in such a case, there is no problem in him conducting a transaction.
