Shaadi ky baad parents ka daughter pe haq (Urdu)

Q:

My wife is a doctor. I and my wife both are earning..together we are meeting the expenses .and ALHAMDOLLILAH we are happy and satisfied…but my wife parents are always talking about our finances…they demand for big amount on behalf of her daughter salary…actually reasonable amount is already being given every month..still they are asking to give more money..although they are well to do in their life…now me my wife had some discussion about finances and their demand.which I refused..they are angry with me and my wife( their daughter)…what should we do.. my wife is in stress.rest of it I want some opinion about it from fiqh

Thank you for your question. Your responsibility towards your parents is to make sure they have sustenance for the day and shelter. Beyond that there is no legal financial responsibility upon the children. As for them being unsatisfied with what you are providing them with, as long as you do not speak with them disrespectfully or act in a disrespectful way towards them, it is not upon you to provide them with more than your means.
