Ask an Alim

why is Homosexuality forbidden in islam

Q:

Why is Islam against people being gay when sexual orientation isn’t a choice and there is no way to cure homosexuality? No one choses to be gay or straight so why would a gay person get gunnah for no reason? What if a gay muslim fulfils all his or her islamic duties( prays, fasts etc) and does not have any homosexual relationships throughout his or her life, would they still go to hell despite not being at fault and not chosing to be gay?

A:

Salam Alaykum,

Kindly refer to  Homosexuality
