What Quran is saying about life hereafter of our demise.

Q:

Can you please guide me what Quran is saying about life hereafter of our demise.

A:

Salaamun alaykum
Thank you for your question.
According to what is understood from the veres of the Holy Quran, humanbeings go through two worlds after death:
1- What is known as barzakh
If something is a barrier between two other things, it is called ‘barzakh’. The life between this world and the day of judgement
There is one verse which literally mentions the word ‘barzakh’:
Sura Mu’min on verse99/100

“When death comes to one of them, he says, ‘My Lord! Take me back,
that I may act righteously in what I have left behind.’ ‘By no means! These are mere words that he says.’ And before them is a barrier until the day they will be resurrected.”

This verse talks about those people who after death will regret what they have done in this world and will ask to go back but they will not be allowed.

There is about 15 verses in the Holy Quran talking about life after death meaning barzakh and that humanbeings go through happiness and sadness, joy and sorrow and live either a happy life or a dreadful one depending on ones actions like sura nisa verse97, sura nahl verse32, sura yasin verse 26/27, aal-imraan verse 69/70… the paradise and hell fire mentioned in these verses are related to the barzakh and not the paradise and hell fire of the day of judgement.

2- the day of judgment (qiyamah)
And when the Hour sets in, the guilty will despair.s (Sura Rum verse 12)
All that is because Allah is the Reality and it is He who revives the dead, and He has power over all things, and because the Hour is bound to come, there is no doubt in it, and Allah will resurrect those who are in the graves.( Sura Hajj verse 6/7)
Say: My Lord has enjoined justice, and set upright your faces at every time of prayer and call on Him, being sincere to Him in obedience; as He brought you forth in the beginning, so shall you also return(on tye day of judgement) (Sura aaraf verse/29)..
To Him will be the return of you all; [that is] Allah’s true promise. Indeed, He originates the creation, then He will bring it back that He may reward with justice those who have faith and do righteous deeds. As for the faithless, they shall have boiling water for drink, and a painful punishment because of what they used to defy.(Sura Yunus verse/4)

These are a few verses that talk about the day of judgement.
