Salamun Alaykum

Thank you for your query.

According to Ayatullah al-Udhma Sayyid Ali Sistany the great Shia jurisprudent(Mujtahid):

Suppose I said prayer, facing a direction I thought was, approximately, the right one, then I found out I was wrong, what would happen?

If the deviation from the direction of the qiblah is less than 45 degrees to right or left, your prayer is in order. If, however, the degree of tilt was greater than that, or you said your prayer facing the opposite direction, and there was still time to repeat the prayer, you should do so. Should the time of prayer elapse, you need not repeat the prayer.

According to Sunnis:

If the deviation from the qiblah is less than 45 degrees, then your prayer is valid, because what you have to do is face the right direction, not face the Ka’bah or Makkah precisely. This deviation does not mean that you have deviated from the general direction.

islamqa.info/en/answers/101449/being-45-degrees-off-from-the-qiblah/

According to the view of the majority of scholars, if the deviation from the qiblah is less than 45 degrees, then the prayer is valid, because what you have to do is face the right direction, not face the Ka’bah or Makkah precisely.

This deviation does not mean that you have deviated from the general direction.

Therefore, a person who knows the Qiblah direction and deviates deliberately his salat can be problematic. But if he had prayed and the direction difference was less than 45 degrees, the prayers he had prayed are valid.

May Allah(swt) grant you success
