I asked many scholars.. it seems all are blindly following.

A:

Salamun Alaykum

Thank you for your query.

We can break the question into two:

  1. What is the philosophy of creation?
  2. What is the cause of these problems such as the one you mentioned in the question.

First I will answer the second question.

God created man and gave him authority. It is the human being who can choose to help the little girl, have mercy and kindness towards that girl or God forbid rape her. So it does not have any connection with God and if God enjoys this act, as you mentioned.

Coming to the first question

One of the most important questions everyone asks is, “What were we created for?” And “What is the purpose of creating human beings and coming to this world? Before answering this question, we need to know some of the things:

  1. God’s actions are not in vain. Allah says in Surah Mominoon/115:

أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ

What! did you then think that We had created you in vain and that you shall not be returned to Us?

We did not create the sky and the earth and whatever is between them for play. Surah Ambiya/16

Knowing that the system of creation is false and aimless, the disbelievers think that they want to escape from the Resurrection and the Day of Judgment.

Allah states in Surah Saad/27:

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاءَ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَاطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنَ النَّارِ

And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them in vain; that is the opinion of those who disbelieve then woe to those who disbelieve on account of the fire.

2, God Almighty is absolute perfection and needless

then surely Allah is Self-sufficient, Praised. (Surah Luqman/12)

It is not the perfection that God lacks and wants to reach perfection with His actions

Therefore, it cannot be said: God does not pursue a goal in His work, because He is purely needless, nor can it be said: His work is aimless, because He is wise; This is why we say: The rational goals seen in God’s work are the goal of His action, not the goal of the doer.

The ultimate goal of human creation is servitude, which God has provided a testing ground for reaching, and has given man knowledge and awareness, the end result of which is drowning in the ocean of His “mercy.”

In other words, God has no purpose in the matter of creation to reach perfection, that is, He did not create beings to complete a defect of His imperfections, rather it is His creatures that if their purposes are not achieved, their work will be annulled and in vain.

Purpose of Creation

Allah (awj) is an unlimited being who holds all perfections. Creating (bringing to existence) is munificence (jamal) and Allah (awj) is munificent. His munificence necessitates that He grant existence to anything worthy of creation. Thus, Allah (awj) created because He is munificent. In other words, the goal and reason behind creation is Allah’s (awj) attribute of munificence. Since, Allah’s (awj) attributes of essence are not extraneous to His essence, we can conclude that the goal of creation is Allah’s (awj) essence.

Allah (awj) created man with dual inclinations—for good and evil—and with two opposing poles in the external world that correspond to these two, namely the prophets (who represent good) and the devils (who represent evil). In so doing, Allah (awj) enabled man to reach the highest level of perfection possible for creatures, and also allowed him the freedom to fall into the lowest pits of depravity. If man, despite his animalistic desires and the constant whispering of satanic beings, follows the path of truth, he attains stations above even that of the angels, precisely because the latter do not have such animalistic desires and satanic whispers. However, if he chooses falsehood, he ends up being lower than even the animals, for they lack the spiritual capabilities and potential of man.

What is the purpose of creating mankind and the world?

God Almighty is a never-ending entity possessing all forms of perfection and creating is His grace. Since Allah (swt) is the All-Graceful, granting everything and anything possible, his being graceful calls for him to create all things that can and deserve to be created. So, Allah (swt) creates because He is the All-Graceful. In other words, the reason behind the creation of everything lies in Him being the All-Graceful and since His qualities (in which one of them is His grace) are part of His essence, it can be said that the purpose of His creation is His essence.

Of course, although one who creates something usually does it for his/her own needs and to make up for his/her imperfections and deficiencies, but that isn’t the case with Allah (swt) because He is absolutely self-sufficient and is of no imperfection. Nevertheless, His actions must have a purpose since He is the all-Wise and does nothing without a logical reason and just for nothing. Hence, the system of creation is a system with a specific purpose that is in continuation of Allah’s high goals, therefore no distortion can be found in it.

As for the main purpose of creation, one must say that it is for man to reach perfection and eternal prosperity and the highest virtues and it is man who benefits from reaching such goals because God is the All-sufficient and is in no need of anything, on the contrary, all things are in need of Him, as He Himself says: “O mankind! You are the ones who stand in need of Allah, and Allah He is the All-sufficient, the All-laudable”.

Therefore, an intellectual person understands that all the bad things happening such as the one you mentioned, is the result of people’s action and Allah(swt) is never forcing them to do bad deeds. It is the humans’ deeds which lead them astray and spread injustice and oppression.

Let’s broader our minds and look at the positive aspect of the creation. How many Billions of people have been created without defect since the world was created? Shouldn’t we thank God for this or just look at what bad is happening from people’s side and relate it to God? How superbly the orbit system is working in its perfection, if there is irregularity or disorder for a second, there would be collision and uproar.

Let’s have a look at some of the verses that clearly shows the selfishness of the human being, that when he is given bounties he remembers God but when something bad comes to him, he forgets God.

When distress befalls man, he supplicates Us, [lying] on his side, sitting, or standing; but when We remove his distress, he passes on as if he had never supplicated Us concerning the distress that had befallen him. What they have been doing is thus presented as decorous to the transgressors.(Surah Yunus/2)

Surely man is created of a hasty temperament. Being greatly grieved when evil afflicts him. and grudging [charity] when good comes his way.(Surah Ma’rij/19-21)

It is the Human being who is creating uproar and bloodshed in this world and not God. Allah(swt) wants the people to live their lives nicely with peacefulness and tranquility but unfortunately it is the human being who is the main cause of these oppression. Indeed there are different types of tests, the one who is born with some defect, itself is the cause of something.

Welfare of the Embryo (fetus) Depends on the Mothers Nutrition

Research proves that eighty percent of the genetically deformed children with physical and mental aberrations are because of deficient food given to the mother during her pregnancy(Aijaz e khurakiah, p.220)

Dr. Jazairi, an eminent nutritionist, writes:

“It is known since long that the development of the foetus and the baby before birth and during feeding on mothers milk the nutrition received by the mother is very important. The mother has to take care that all the essential proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, fats and other materials are taken in optimum quantities and at proper intervals for proper growth of the living cell that is the foetus. The foetus, which remains in the stage of metamorphosis in the womb, requires all these essentials for proper and healthy growth. It does happen during pregnancies that the mother remains healthy outwardly but due to deficiency of certain vitamins the foetus shows abnormal growth.”(Biography Before Delivery, p. 182)

Karner says:

“Sometimes the reason for a new-born being abnormal is that although the seed is good it doesn’t get a proper environment in the womb. It also is sometimes because although the womb’s environment is good the seed is defective. In these conditions babies are born with several deformities like cleft lips, small and sunken eyes and flat soles of the feet etc. Earlier these defects were thought to be genetic of nature but now the research points out that they are caused by deficient availability of elements like oxygen during the pregnancy. The living environment and the surroundings during the pregnancy of a woman are considered the cause of the congenital defects like paraplegic limbs etc.

Imam as-Sadiq says in a tradition: “Whatever a pregnant mother eats or drinks, the foetus draws its sustenance from that.(Bihar al-anwar, v 6, p. 342)
