Ask an Alim

want to learn Islamic Science

Q:

Assalamu Alaikom Warahmetullahi Wabarakatuh
Eid al- Adha Mubarak!
I am Berina, student
Skopje, Macedonia .
My question is regarding to my study. I am a practising muslim and I am studying architecture, 2nd year. Now I am in doubts of my field because I started feeling that this is not good for a muslimah. Now I want to leave it and start studying something related to Islamic Science as I feel this is more important in my community. But my family is telling me that these feelings can be from Shaytan. I hope it will be answered .
JazakaAllah khayran

Wa alaikum salam
It is nice to know that our Muslim women are into pursuing knowledge in different educational fields.

For Islam to be dominant ,we as Muslims have a duty to spread the word of God amongst the people of the world and for that we need experts in every field of life.
If our aim behind choosing fields which are not directly related to Islamic studies is to please Allah swt (by serving Islam and Muslims) ,this will be equivalent to studying Islam and the reward will be the same.

My advice is that if you want to continue studying architecture, do it with a divine and good intention. On the side you can also choose to pursue Islamic studies like Quran, fiqh, akhlaq etc in order to increase and strengthen your religious knowledge.
InshaAllah you will be rewarded by Allah swt.
