Ask an Alim

Sex without insertion.

Q:

Salaamun alaikum
Alhamdulillah we are married and have 3 kids. Our 3rd kid was unplanned so after that due to the fear of getting pregnant again,we do have sex but without insertion. We do use the necessary precaution and both of us do reach climax…my question is that is it wrong that we do it without insertion ?
Is it a sin or do we need to give any kaffara?
Jazakallah khair.

Waalaykum al-salam

Thank you for your question.

Husband and wife can engage and derive pleasure from one another if it’s not involved in any haram. For a thorough read and on the same kindly refer to the following link:

Anal Sex and it’s Kaffara

Is the use of sex toys (e.g vibrator) permissible between a husband and wife

Also, there are many other ways of preventing pregnancy while maintaining the normal way of satisfaction. you may want to see a gynaecologist for the same and further guidance. however, to answer the last part of your query, no it isn’t a sin and has no kaffarah
