Ask an Alim

Am i commiting biddat if i say darood 3 times instead of 1 time whenever i hear the name of Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ?

Q:

assalam o alaikum.
i wanted to ask that after hearing the hadith regarding the punishment for those who do not say darood when the name of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) i realized that in the past i have been ignorant in this case , since then whenever i hear the name of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) i send darood 3 times i.e one for the present and remaining 2 for the times in the past when i might have missed , like QAZA (qada) prayers. the question is that am i doing any sort of BIDDAT or is it right ?

A:

Bismillah

Thank you for your question. There is no qaza for not saying the darood previously. When mentioning the darood the family of the Prophet (saw) should also be included (e.g. peace and blessings be upon him and his family).

May you always be successful.

Zoheir Ali.
