Observing Sahar for Mustahab Fasts

Is sahar necessary for nafli roza?

It is better and advisory  to have sahar for all the fasts. However for obligatory fasts, it is heavily recommended. Here are 2 narrations related
to the topic:

1. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq has said: In the month of Ramadan, it is better even with one sip of water. In an optional fast, one may or may not take breakfast before dawn as he likes.
(al-Kafi, Volume 4, Chapter 58, Hadith #2)

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn Isa from Shuayb from abu Basir who has said the following hadith: I asked abu Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, about breakfast before dawn, in the case of one who likes to fast whether it is obligatory or not. The Imam replied, it is fine if one likes not to have breakfast before dawn. However, in the month of Ramadan, it is better. We love not to ignore it in the month of Ramadan.
(al-Kafi, Volume 4, Chapter 58, Hadith #1)
