Qadha prayers

Q:

Salaam. According to Ayatullah Sistani, when is Qadha of Dhuhr/Asr prayers, and Qadha of Maghrib/Isha? If I start praying before/at the time of Qadha, but by the time I complete my Salaah the time has passed, what is the ruling? Thanks.

A:

Alaykum Salaam

Sunset is the Qadha time for Asr, and for Zuhr it a little before that (the time it would take to pray Asr)
Qadha for Isha is midnight and for Maghrib a little before that (the time it would take to pray Isha).
If a person is traveling than the Maghribain qadha time extends to just before Fajr time.

As long as the prayer is begun within time it is OK as “ada” and not counted as “qadha”.
