Prostrating Facing Qibla (Ka’bah)

Q:

How will you explain to a non-Muslim that the Muslims do not prostrate before bricks (Al-Kaaba)?

A:

Al-Ka’bah is a direction and not the object of worship. We all prostrate to and for  Allah (swt), the Almighty. We need a direction for it and Ka’bah, metaphorically, is directly in line with Baitul Ma’moor which is just below the throne of Allah (swt) in the heavens. Due to this holy status of Ka’bah, Muslims do find it to be the holiest place on earth which deserves prostration towards its direction.
