Ask an Alim

Is it permissible for Muslims to allow their pet dog (owned for protection purpose) inside the house?

Q:

I wanted to ask if its permissible for Muslims to allow their pet dog (owned for protection purpose) inside the house? But not allow it in rooms where prayers are to be offered? So that the hygiene and islamic code is followed? (Correct me if I’m wrong in this as I have very little knowledge regarding this) Also, is it permissible to have a service dog and allow it inside your house? (Same like above scenario, just now the dog is a service dog) Awaiting for your response

Also, if a dog is owned for protection purpose, the right place for that would be outside the house. Dogs are Najis hence having them in the house can cause great trouble for the owner in the sense of purifying himself, his house and surrounding etc ..
