Ask an Alim

My question is that should I recite surah Ra’ad now, I regret not reading for him, but should I recite now, so that I get a son like Emad?

Q:

Im a mother, who lost her 6 year old beautiful son five years ago.he passed away from bacterial infection that spread in his blood. According to doctor.
My son was healthy child but when he used to get sick, he took time to recover. When he was 4 or 5, I saw a dream in which I ask my older brother who is hafiz Quran, that “why Emad(my son) always gets ill?” he replies, “Recite Ra’ad.” I was surprised what is Ra’ad in my dream, when I woke up, I clearly remembered my dream, I asked my mother, she told me it’s a surah. I read only once.
After my sons death, I’m not able to conceive again. I have alhamdulliah a daughter after emad, but I’m not able to get another child, a son like Emad.
My question is that should I recite surah Ra’ad now, I regret not reading for him, but should I recite now, so that I get a son like Emad?

A:

Salaamun alaykum.
Thank you for your question and I sympathise with your loss and I can imagine how hard these years must have been for you. May Allah (swt) grant you and your family sabr jamil.

We are all human beings and we all have to die one day. It’s a reality we have to accept, that each and everyone of us comes in this world with a limited time, once the time is up, we have to leave.
But I am sure the loss of a young child is very devastating but Allah (swt) put’s those He loves through tests and difficulties so that they can get closer to Him.
Allah says in Sura Taghabun Verse15

إِنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلَادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عِنْدَهُ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
Rather, your possessions, and children are a test, and Allah—with Him is a great reward!
You should not blame yourself for your son’s death as his time had finished. I am sure you prayed for him when he was sick but it was Allah’s will to take him away so Allah tells us to be patient through difficulties for which He has promised great reward.

In the end I would like to say, you should pray to Allah (swt) to grant you whatever is best for you in this world and in the hereafter. InshaAllah if He wills you will conceive again. May Allah help us through all the tests for He is our sole helper
