Ask an Alim

Revealing secrets by my wife.

Me and my wife got divorced. She’s been telling people that I’ve cheated on her, which is true, and showing them evidence. She’s also revealed my personal secrets. My friends have asked me upfront if what she’s said is true and I’ve denied all the allegations. I feel like I did the right thing by keeping my marital issues and personal weaknesses to myself as Allah doesn’t like revealing of secrets.

What I did in my married life was bad and I repent almost daily though did I do the right thing by denying the allegations when asked by friends and others?

Thank you for your Question

A persons sins are between himself and his Lord. If you have asked for forgiveness in the real sense, as in you have never gone back to what you used to do, then definitely Allah has forgiven you and you should put your trust that Allah has forgiven you.
In that case, just put all these thoughts aside refrain to be answerable to people about it yourself or your past.

InshaAllah all goes well with you and you are able to stand strong against all odds. Trust in Allah and you will never go wrong.
