Khums on Capital

Q:

Bismillah,
Let’s say I have saved £1000, I then pay khums on the amount at the end of the year, which would be £200. I now have £800, I would like use this as a purpose of business by buying a stock worth £800. Do I have to pay khums when buying the stock?

A:

In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
Wa-Alaykum Assalam Wa Rahmtu-Allah,

No – the capital has already had its khums paid and so does not need to be paid again.
