Ask an Alim

Is there a Hadith that mentions about sustanance being decreased if Rabbits are kept as pets at home.URDU

Q:

Sir, suna hai k khargosh gar main rakhnay say rizk main kami ho jat hai. Yeh rizk ka ghata hain? Kya yeh drust hai?

A:

Alaikum Salam wa Rahmatullah.

In the Islamic Sharia, a Rabbit could be kept for a pet at home although there would be of no benefit like other recommended pet animals such as birds, sheeps and goats, or cats.
The meat of the Rabbit is unlawful for consumption and its waste matter is Najis ie impure. Care should be taken that the place where one prays or the attire one wears whilst praying should be free from the waste matter of the Rabbit.
Being kind to the animal is also important and a commandment of the Holy Prophet s a.w.
I haven’t come across any hadith that mentions about sustanance being decreased if Rabbits are kept as pets at home.
