Ask an Alim

Is it true that syed’s Won’t burn in hell fire

Q:

Is it true that fire of hell is haram on syeds ( progeny of Zehra)

A:

Waalykum salam

Thank you for your Question

Sadat are people whose lineage goes back to the The  Holy Prophet (s)’s Grand father; Hazrat Hashim (s).

On the Day of judgment, no one will be judged according to their lineage or the like. It is the day when one  is accountable for his deeds and what he has sent forth. The holy Qur’an in regards to this says (s.Mominun:101):

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَلَا أَنْسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلَا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ

meaning:
When the Trumpet is blown, there will be no ties between them on that day, nor will they ask [about] each other.

Also, in another instance the Quran,in surah al-Lahab (uncle of prophet (s)), clearly says  that Lahab and his wife are the inmates of hell and fire whereas he is a sayyid since he is from the lineage of Hashim (s) as well.

Therefore, it isn’t correct to say that Sadat can not go to Jahanam. A person on that day will only reap what he sow.

hope this was useful
