Ask an Alim

Is it true that as per a sahih hadith one should not allow his daughter to read tafseer of Surah Yousuf?

Q:

I have heard an Islamic Scholar who said that Imam Ahmed Raza Has narrated a Sahih Hadis that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that one should not allow his daughter to read the Tafseer of Surah Yousuf and instead read the Tafseer of Surah Noor. Is it correct?. Please answer in the light of Quran and Hadis.

A:

Salamun Alaykum

Thank you for your query.

According to the shia source of Hadith the hadith has come 3 times with the same gist(مفهوم) but all these 3 ahadith are Dhaeef and unauthentic according to their Sanad.

If hadith goes against the Quran then it is not accepted. Since Quran itself says, Quran is a light and guidance for mankind then why can’t everybody read and understand?

Even if the Riwayat/hadith is Sahih, authentic and strong that means not Dhaeef, but still if it goes against the Quranic teachings, then we do not accept it.

But in justification to the asked hadith, it is said, so the girls do not fall in Waswas and haram relationship.

May Allah(swt) grant you Tawfiq to read and understand the Holy Quran.

Wassalam,

Syed Haider
