I’m not happy with my marriage. Can I ask for a divorce?

Q:

Assalam o Alaikum, I got married last year, I was not happy with my marriage but my family told me that with time it will get better but it didn’t. I am not happy at all. I am always worried and due to this, I have not been well since then. I also had a miscarriage due to these worries and ill health In these circumstances, Can I demand a divorce from him? plus please enlighten me on this from Quran and Hadith. Jazak Allah

Thank you for your question. And I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage. May Allah help you through this.

I’m afraid I won’t be able to give specific solution to your problem because I don’t know what it is, however, it’s very crucial to understand that Marriage is a very holy tie between a man and a woman. The kind that Allah emphasis a lot on.
breaking it off has to have a very solid reason and all other measures should have been taken before opting for it.

My humble suggestion to you is that you give your marriage a chance. Meet up to all the issues you have in it, involve your husband in the thought process and try and solve it. Make sure, you do this before you try and conceive again.
also, you must seek some counseling. Where you can vent out and find practical solutions.
