Salaamun alaykum
I am sorry about your fathers death. I know, its extremely hard to loose a loved one. But this is life. Life is meant to be full of difficulties and tests. Allah says in the Quran in suratul mulk:2
الَّذی خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَ الْحَیاةَ لِیَبْلُوَكُمْ أَیُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلا
“He who created death and life that He may test you to see which of you are best in conduct.”

First and foremost if we try and comprehend this world the way it is, we will be able to overcome all difficulties amd never lose hope and more than that never be upset if difficulties come our way. Theres a hadith from Imam Ali which says: whoever comprehends this world, will never be upset when difficulties come in hislife.
Imam is trying to tell us that this life is bound to be full of trials and difficulties, so we shouldnt expect otherwise; the actual tranqulity is in the hereafter.
So if we accept the fact that this world is full of trials, then we will embrace the difficulties and have a positive approach and therefore never lose hope.
Now how do we accept these trials???
Firstly, We should know the purpose of our creation. Why did Allah create us? What way does He want us to go? Where does He want us to reach? Allah says in the holy quran:
و ما خلقت الجن و الانس الا لیعبدون‌»[ذاریات /6 5
” I did not create the jinn and the humans except that they may worship(submit) Me”.
If we understand why Allah created us and what He expects from us then we will do anything to reach that goal no matter what difficulties come in the way just like a student who goes through all difficulties to reach his purpose and become something.
Secondly, Allah puts us through trials inorder to train us, make us stronger and make us realise our mistakes and correct them so we can get closer to our purpose that is getting closer to Him. Just like a student who always gets tested by his teacher. The student cant expect the teacher not to test him because its for his own good and betterment.
So Allah has created us for a reason so we should live it in a way that pleases Him.
