Huruf e Muqat’ta’aat

Q:

2. There are few very short verses in Holy Quran like Alif Laam Meem, and these letters are called ‘Huruf e Muqat’ta’aat’:

a) How many such letters are there in Quran ? Provide the following:
i) Total number of letters   &                 ii) Total letters without duplication. Eg: If Laam (ل) appears twice, count it as only 1.

b) In which Surahs these letters are found, please write the name of the Surahs.

c) When all these letters are put together, a sentence can be formed about Imam Ali (as). What is this sentence ? Please write it. (The sentence is in Arabic)

  1. 29 Surahs start with Hurufe Muqata’aat making total 78 letters and 14 letters without repetition (ا ح رس ص ط ع ق ك ل م ن ه ی)
  2. The 29 Surahs in which Hurufe Muqata’aat have come are as follows:

  1. By removing the duplicate letters (leaving only one of each of the 14 initials) and rearranging them, some had made the sentence “نص حكيم قاطع له سر ” which could translate to: “A wise and conclusive text has a secret“. But according to Shias the following sentence is made:

 

عَلی صراطُ حَقٍّ نُمْسِکُهُ

OR

صِراطُ عَلی حَقٌّ نُمْسِکُهُ

Which means “Ali is the right way” or The path of Ali Haq is the one we keep”.

 

May Allah(swt) keep us with the Ahlul Bayt(as) and Wilayat of Imam Ali(as).
