Saying word “khatam” to my wife in humour

Q:

My wife often writes name of a famous tv personality in humor to make me jealous but i know that she loves me. One day when she was about to write his name i judged it and jokingly said that “if you wrote his name then finished( khatam)” while i did not mean it or to divorce my wife. She asked me what then i said nothing. But now i am confused that is there any adverse effect on our relationship?

A:

Waalaykum Salam,

Thank you for your Question

The following is according to the Shia sect.
For a divorce to be correct, it has to have the following conditions:

1- You have to have two believing adults as your witness
2- The woman has to be clean of her menstrual period and also shouldn’t be pregnant
3- Proper Arabic words need to be uttered for the act to take place.
