Consent for marrying a Christian

A muslim man has a daughter who a christian man wants to marry but they need the concent of the father. What should the father do?

Salamun Alaykum

Thank you for your question

A Muslim woman cannot marry a Christian man, even with the consent of her father.

According to Ayatullah al-Udhma Sayyid Ali Sistany:

Question: Is it permissible for a Muslim single man to consummate permanent marriage contract with a Christian or Jewish woman?

Answer: It is not permissible, (Obligatory Precaution).

A Muslim man is allowed to marry a Christian or a Jewish woman in temporary marriage. Based on precaution, it is obligatory to refrain from marrying a non-Muslim woman in permanent marriage.

A Muslim man is not allowed to marry, neither permanently nor temporarily a non-Muslim woman who is not among Ahlul Kitab. Based on obligatory precaution, a Muslim man must refrain from marrying a Zoroastrian woman, even temporarily.

As for a Muslim woman, she is not allowed to marry a non-Muslim man at all

May Allah(swt) grant you success
