Diyya (Compensation For Injury)

Q:

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu

Please clarify in detail the amount of Diyya to pay a child if he was hit and it left an effect on his skin.

What carat is coined gold and how much is it worth in money?

What if it were in the face?

Does it differ if the child was a girl or boy?

What if it were an adult?

I follow Sayid Siyistani.

Thank you very much jazakum allah kul khayr.

A:

1. If the skin turns black, the diyyat is approx 10.5 grams of gold and if it turns red, then it is approx 2.65 grams of gold

Persian – Question and Answers

2. The money would depend upon the current rate of the market

3. If the face turns black, the diyyat is approx 21 grams of gold and if it turns red, then it is approx 5.25 grams of gold

Persian – Question and Answers

4. No difference between adult and children, boys and girls.

Yes, parents can calculate the extra non-obligatory expenses of the children as their diyyat.

NOTE: Physical abuse to children is highly condemned in most of the cases so it should be avoided.
