Child Abandoned

Q:

ASALAM ALAYKUM I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE ISLAMIC LAW STATES REGARDING A WOMAN WHO HAS 3 CHILDREN FROM 2 UNSUCCESSFUL MARRIAGES, WHICH SHE HAS ABANDONED WITH HER FAMILY FOR NEARLY ONE YEAR

A:
Alaikum Salam.
The Islamic law is that the father should provide the required expenses for his children. Therefore both the fathers of your children varying which child belong to their respective fathers, have an Islamic right towards their fathers for their provision and sustenance.
You are allowed to stand up for their rights on their behalf and if they have been neglected, then their father is committing a sin on that account. Their custody lies with their father after the age of seven unless there is an agreement that you should keep the children.
Salma Alavi.
