Ask an Alim

Changing voice tone while giving islamic lectures

Q:

Hi i am from Bangladesh. I have heard some islamic lectures from youtube. Most of the imam in my country change their voice tone while giving lectures like reciting any verse. Like we recite the quranic verse, the imam change their voice and speak loudly. They speech regular words like they are loudly reciting there own dialouge. They do not speak in regular voice. They change their voice into a melodious tone. Is it allowed to speech this way? Thank you.

A:

Salamun Alaykum

Thank you for your query.

There is no problem if their speech isn’t like songs, sexually arousing or disrespecting Islam and it’s teachings.

Also it may depend on the culture and tradition of delivering speech due to which some/many of the Imams would deliver their speech in that manner.

May Allah(swt) grant you success

Wassalam,

Syed Haider
