Can we hold a Marriage in a very simple manner as my mother has just passed away? death

Q:

16 day ago, we fixed a marriage/Nikaah date of my younger brother that is 5th January, next day my mother passed away, this situation was very critical and sad for us. And we can’t do anything because It’s a Allah’s decision so we accept it. And pray for my mother and Allah bless her with Jannah.

After 10 days of my mother’s death, my father made a decision we would continue marriage/Nikkah( by simplicity and according to Islamabad) on that date which we had fixed. But some relative/cousins support us and some reject us,
My question is whether our decision is right or wrong according to Islamabad,
What’s the answer for those who have rejected us?

A:

Asalamu Alaikum  Wa Rahmatullah
Thank you for your question

I am sorry to hear of your mother’s demise. May Allah bless the departed soul and give you all sabr al-Jameel insha’Allah.

Since the nikah is performed by a sentence (aqd/sigha) there is no problem performing it.

Of course, this is the Islamic viewpoint, but I’m unfamiliar with Islamabad traditions.
