Ask an Alim

Can I recite QURAN at home, which actually belongs to the masjid.

Q:

Asalamualaikum, my question is that few months ago I went to offer jummah salah in the mosque, after the salah I started reciting Quran but I wanted to read Quran at home also but at that time I didn’t had one at home. So I took that Quran from the mosque and brought it home. I wanted to ask the concerned person at the mosque whether I could take Quran at home or not but nobody was there at that time. I still have that Quran and I am reciting on daily basis. Do I need to return back the Quran as I have left that city also now. Please advice.

Wa Alaykumussalam

Thank you for your query.

We are not allowed to bring the endowed (Waqf) things from the mosque to our home. Since it is not permitted, you must return the Quran and keep it back in the mosque you have taken from. You can buy one if you don’t have it at home.

May Allah(swt) grant you success
