Ask an Alim

Praying Dhohr instead of jumuah

Q:

Aslamualaykum, I have to pick my A levels in a few months(UK), the A levels will determine what job I will get. I wanted to become a GP. However, as a GP I may only be able to pray my fardh namaz, and wont be able to go to the mosque, also I would likely not be able to read Jummuah. Could i read Zuhr instead. I am not a GP yet. I know that it will be unlikely that I will be able to read Jummuah, one of the most important prayers, as this will be the case would I be obliged to choose a career that will allow me to read Jummuah. Or can I pursue my path of GP, but sacrifise Jummuah and replace it with Zuhr

A:

Assalamu Alaykum

Thank you for your Question

There is no need for you to change your career. One can certainly pray Salat al-Dhohr instead of Jumuah

hope this was useful
good luck
