Ask an Alim

Can a man marry a shemale?

Q:

My question is either a man can do marriage with actual shemale person. Is it allow in Islam and what’s say about that in history. thanks

A:

As-salamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

thanks for your question

The criteria for gender recognition in our jurisprudence books is the person’s genitals, and such a person can marry the opposite sex.

legal authorities in some countries allow such change and procedure. Historically, people with sexual problems have been given the name “Khuntha, mukhanath” and there are narrations about them, but today there is a treatment for them.
