Ask an Alim

Allah’s love for his slave with test and trials…

Q:

Aoa. I hope this question finds you in the best of health.
I’ve heard from alot of people if Allah unconditionally blesses a person, he is unhappy with him. If he truly loves someone, he will test him. Can you please explain this. Thank you.

A:

Wa Alaikum al-salam

Thanks for your question

According to Quran and narrations everybody is tested somehow, even divine blessings are tests (as you can see at 21:35), so blessings like health, wealth etc. are also Allah’s test; one of the reasons for hard tests is that to cleanse a person from his sins and mistakes, so in the day of judgment he goes to paradise for his good deeds. Based on this if Allah swt is giving someone countless blessings and gifts (and that person is not using them in the right way) Allah swt is paying his small good deed in this world (so no good deeds are left for him for the day of judgment) and will punish him in the day of judgment.
